Most of the tasks related to keeping your CB radio gear in good working order involve its electronics; however, without working knobs, you can't adjust volume, gain, tuning and other aspects of obtaining a clear signal. To replace these rotary controls, purchase a new set that matches the brand and model of your equipment.

Instructions

1. Turn off the radio and unplug its power cable from the rear of the device. Unscrew and remove the microphone cable. Set the cable and microphone aside.

2. Rotate each control knob counterclockwise until it reaches its resting position at the leftmost end of its movement path. Because these knobs press-fit onto their shafts, they lack an automatic means of aligning their indicators with the markings on the radio.

3. Slide the two spudgers behind the first knob, inserting the first at the 10 o'clock position and the second at the three o'clock position relative to the outer dimensions of the knob. Press forward on the tools to force the knob off the shaft.

4. Align each replacement knob with the position to which you rotated the knob it replaces. Press the knob onto the shaft until it bottoms out against the faceplate.
